People consider some jobs fun and trendy, and the others that don’t fit into the “cool” category are deemed not good enough. One person in an online community asked about some fantastic jobs people look down on, and here are 12 we agree with.
1. Trash Collection
First on our list are those driving around in a garbage truck collecting dirt in a neighborhood. You might not know this, but they earn a decent living, have good benefits, and are very important to our towns and cities. Plus, we can’t get enough of how cool the trucks look with their robotic arms; it’s no wonder kids are so fascinated by them.
2. Office Jobs
Do you know those jobs they make out to be boring and dream crushers? However, they don’t say these boring, won’t-let-you-follow-your-dreams jobs come with job security, good pay, and benefits. Who says you can’t find a job like this that still aligns with your dreams?
3. Essential Work
Someone comments that the pandemic exposed the glaring fact that essential workers are looked down upon by the same people they are rendering services to. We’ve seen people be the rudest they can be to employees who work in these settings. It makes little sense, especially since these people only do their job to help the public.
4. Sanitation
Next on the list are those who ensure that public spaces are kept clean and safe. They clean the streets, parks, sewers, and stormwater drains. They do this while exposing themselves to unsafe situations. It’s baffling that some people think they have “such an easy job.” Who needs them, anyway? The planet, that’s who.
5. Defense Law
Being a defense attorney is like having any other job in the world. These attorneys fight for their clients to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that their client is innocent. Who are we to judge them? It’s high time people stopped demonizing and trivializing defense attorneys.
6. Bartending and Serving
Can we start with how cool bartenders look mixing or pouring up drinks? It’s legit, pays the bills, and puts food on the table. If that isn’t a real job, what is? Someone mentions meeting a waitress at a restaurant he visited with his wife. The waitress used tips she had gotten over the years to put her child through college.
7. Farming
The first misconception is that farmers are filthy. The second should be that farmers are poor and can’t afford a life in the city. Ffarmers are some of the most hardworking people, and they make a decent sum too. Most importantly, they ensure food remains in supply. Someone adds, “Farmers are also much smarter than people realize! It’s amazing to me that society likes to put down the only people who can feed them. No farmers, no farms, no food.”
8. Hairdressing
Not much needs to be said about hairdressers. They earn well, have flexible hours, and get paid to transform people into beauty gods and goddesses. That is a dream job! Most people think it is a silly or mediocre job, but they couldn’t be further from the truth.
9. Car Maintenance
Yep, we agree with this 100%. The way car mechanics are looked down upon, one would think it’s the worse job on Earth. Someone shares that his elder brother is an auto mechanic, just like his dad was. He said it had always been his brother’s dream, and he ensured he took that path. Now imagine the number of mechanics earning decent pay by doing what they enjoy and being around what they love — cars.
10. Cart Gathering
Huge malls or sales department offers different roles, one of which is gathering the carts after customers. One person says they used to do precisely this where they worked, and they loved it. In their words, it “was literally the best part of my day.” Still, many love to look down on folks in this department.
11. Babysitting
Someone shares their experience working with infants and toddlers. They make enough money and experience a fantastic working environment; still, what they do is considered something other than a real job. Even when she’s around other parents, she still gets looked down on because she is the nanny. People must remember that caring for infants isn’t a job for just anyone. Children need to be around people who are patient and full of love for them.
12. Teachers
Let’s talk about teachers. They are called “teachers” for a reason and are there to educate the kids. As a parent, you don’t suddenly disappear to the rear because your child is old enough to go to school and expect a teacher to do all the work. Some people feel that they have “nothing better to do with their time, anyway.” Teachers deserve better respect, don’t you agree?
