10 Things Wealthy People Find Offensive About The Other 99% – According to the “Lower” Classes

angry man, boss

Wealthy people live in a world of their own, so it’s no big surprise that there are many things that an average middle or lower-class person may do that they may find offensive.

Can you blame them? Wealthy people — especially the ones born into wealth — know nothing other than the life and mannerisms they are accustomed to. So, the next time you find yourself around a rich person, there are a few things you should avoid doing. Unless you live on the edge and are eager to press some trigger buttons. Then you’re welcome to try them.

1. Sitting at Work

Sitting at work is a class distinction, according to what folks say. Rich people get offended when others are sitting to provide service. No — it does not matter whether they are busy with work.

As long as there are at work, sitting down is unprofessional and lazy. It hardly matters as long as the person gets the job done. For instance, no one expects an accountant to stand all day at work.

2. Poverty

Apparently, being poor is enough to tick a rich person off. Maybe they do deserve a world of their own. Someone shared a funny story of their grandmother’s boyfriend driving through the slums of the city and getting visibly irritated at the state of poverty.

He thought the houses were ugly and inhabitable. That seems insensitive, doesn’t it? But as earlier mentioned, most people born into wealth know little outside the bubble they were born into. And the person in question came from a long line of “old money.”

3. Calling Them Lucky

This is an age-old debate. Are rich people lucky or hard-working? It’s case-dependent and not always a yes or no question. Still, many people think luck plays a more significant role in getting rich than hard work, much to the annoyance of wealthy people.

Again, it’s case-dependent. Nobody knows what goes on in the life of anyone when they draw down the curtains. Telling someone who worked 15 hours a day that their wealth came through luck and not because of their hard work would be enough to set them off.

4. Owning Loud Dogs

You’d think urban neighborhoods would be full of loud dogs, barking threats at passersby to stay off the properties as their owners needed protection because of their status. But it’s the opposite. A wanderer notes that driving through affluent neighborhoods is silent and peaceful.

Do you know where it’s not silent and peaceful? Middle and lower-class neighborhoods. Don’t get mad at us; we didn’t make the consensus. But here’s one reason the fat cats might not enjoy hanging around other kinds of people.

5. Talking About Your Financial Struggles

Most of the elite don’t care if your daddy doesn’t have money, honey. Somebody shares the story of their experiences in high school. They had friends ranging from lower to upper-middle class. But only one guy would get offended whenever he said he was broke. The guy was born with a gold spoon in his mouth.

And it wasn’t because they were scared this person would ask them for their money or resources, but because the rich kid thought he should be ashamed of confessing poverty.

6. Being Choosy With Work

Most of the affluent can lack empathy. One way this shows is their opinion about work. They think other people should have no problem doing any job and working crazy hours. After all, they worked hard for their money. Everyone else should work just as hard till they get to where they can choose not to.

7. Existing

Isn’t this funny? But the 99% think one way to vex a wealthy person is by just existing, being there, and sharing the same air. One person begs to counter this, though.

They say, “They need you to exist to be a cog in their machine. What they find offensive is when you want silly things like to be happy, to survive, to have food, to have fun, to dream, to have hobbies; you know all the things that make life worth living.

8. Have a Life Outside Of Work

The prosperous must be Rihanna’s biggest fans and keeping her 2016 hit single “Work” on the charts. It’s true — a huge percentage of them think other people who are not as successful as them should not have a life outside of work. They haven’t earned it yet.

9. Talk About Salaries

It’s so much easier to discuss how much you earn with people around the same financial status as you. For the upper class, asking them how much they earn is rude and offensive. It’s “personal and private.”

10. Being Happy

An individual opines wealthy people are jealous of ordinary, happy people. Most of them have all the money and still lack joy.

This person says, “Believe it or not, but I found very successful and famous people who are legitimately jealous of regular people who have joy, love, and laughter in their lives. With success and wealth comes this unwritten law that everyone should just stop caring. Most become more pretentious, superficial, ignorant, and immature.”

Well, half of the world believes money is the key to happiness. Others think the best things in life are free. So what side are you on?
